Triptyques en trio

A mix of ancient and new music !

Volny Hostiou, serpent
David Chevalier, electric guitar, theorbo, and Baroque guitar
Clément Landais,  double bass and electric bass.

This musical trio  offers an unusual encounter, by mixing the serpent – an extraordinary Baroque instrument, the electric guitar – one of the emblematic instruments of the XXth century, and the double bass – an instrument which has been present throughout the ages and in various musical styles. Whether in the reinterpretation of XVIIth century pieces or in creations, by combining these instruments together there is a desire to find a common sound and a phrasing evoking the human voice .

Presented in the form of a triptych, some Roland de Lassus, Monteverdi, Jacob Van Eyck pieces will be brought to light or referenced in the musical conversation between these 3 instruments. The re-orchestrated and sometimes remodelled score of these pieces will alternate with the performers’ own compositions. The audience is invited to immerse itself in a pot pourri of intermingled styles, and the period when each element comes from could be difficult to identify.
